Stop 14 — 610 North Pine Street
Year built: 1907 Style: Queen Anne Notable: Moved in 1976 from W 7th Street (now Fourth Ward Park)
The 1907 Queen Anne at 610 North Pine was originally located on West 7th Street, in the middle of what is now Fourth Ward Neighborhood Park. Per Friends of Fourth Ward, the building needed extensive renovation when it was moved to its current location in 1976. During a pre-renovation tour, the current owner fell through the living-room floor — and nevertheless bought, modified, and enlarged the home.
Two details about this stop are worth flagging. First: the park itself — stop 1 on this tour — stands on ground where several residential structures, including this one, once sat. Second: the falling-through-the-floor detail is a rare glimpse of what pre-restoration Fourth Ward actually felt like to the 1976-era urban pioneers who took on these buildings.
